Davis Recap 04/25/15

This past Saturday, April 25th, I (Declan) had the great pleasure of providing music for the Davis wedding at the Stone Mill Inn. Kim and Joe are a sweet, sweet couple. They were a dream to work with, and everything went so smooth with organizing the itinerary for the night, as well as the music and vibe they wanted.

I was thrilled to work with Melissa and Casey from Stylish Occasions Wedding & Event Planning again. They are so on top of things that the night just flows seamlessly. They have such an eye for detail and care deeply about the couple and their family and friends being comfortable and enjoying the day.

The ceremony was outside, near the barn. On an otherwise sunny day, it was surprisingly a tad bit cool at times. That did not deter from the big moment when Joe and Kim exchanged vows, their rings, said “I do” and sealed it with a kiss!

The 3-piece string section was the perfect touch.

Cocktail hour was filled with Frank Sinatra, Rat Pack, Harry Connick Jr., Nat King Cole as well as Dean Martin and that style of music. Their songs never get old, because they just make you feel so good. There was a bowling ball and a framed picture of the couple, for people to sign. They had personalized mugs to commemorate the day for each guest, even I got one!

For dinner, we listened to an eclectic variety of laid-back tunes from Jack Johnson’s “Better Together,” to Maroon 5’s “Sunday Morning,” to Coldplay’s “Sparks,” as well as the Everly Brothers’ “(Til) I Kissed You and even Marvin Gaye’s “Aint No Mountain High Enough.” I love weddings that give you the freedom to just explore. Explore emotions, vibes, rhythms, genres, and different artists. It’s a lot of fun and keeps me on my toes as far as always searching for new bands and sounds.

We kicked off dance time with classic Michael Jackson (Billie Jean) and then ran the full gamut with 50’s and 60’s sock hop styled music as well as Motown, classic rock and sprinkling in modern hits to round it all out!

Congratulations to Joe and Kim! Safe travels to Hawaii!
