How to Choose Slow Dance Music

When it comes to slow dances, it’s very important to remember that much of the night is fast and energetic. It’s also very important to remember, that there are many guests who will NEVER dance to anything faster than the foxtrot or waltz. It’s good to have a solid list of slow dances that will cater to them and pull them into the festive mood of the night! Playing just upbeat and up-tempo music will only push them away and deter from their experience.

You can always Google a great list or two, but it’s good to start with songs you love. You can also ask people to email or write down on their RSVP card, songs they would like to hear throughout the night!

Some slow dances we love and love to play at weddings:

Israel Kamakawiwo’ole – Somewhere Over the Rainbow
The Everly Brothers Til I Kissed You
Marvin Gaye – Let’s Get It On
Al Green – Let’s Stay Together
The Temptations – Earth Angel
KC and JoJo – All My Life
Hunter Hayes – Wanted
Robin Thicke – Lost Without U
John Legend – All of Me
Etta James – At Last
Death Cab for Cutie – I’ll Follow You Into the Dark
Rascal Flatts – Bless the Brocken Road
Edwin MCain – I’ll Be
Sam Smith – Stay With Me
Louis Armstrong – What a Wonderful World
Josh Groban – You Raise Me Up
Elvis Presley – Love Me Tender
Van Morrison – Have I told You Lately (That I Love You)

This is just a small sampling of some of our favorites, and there are millions on top of millions of songs you can choose from. Make sure to take some time to pick your favorites and throw them on a list for your DJ.
