There was great music in 2013 and I’ll break down my favorites by cocktail hour, dinner, and party songs. Some songs from my list weren’t necessarily ‘new’ songs in 2013, rather, this is a list of my favorite songs played during the key portions of wedding receptions throughout the year.

Cocktail Hour
I’m a sucker for the classy sounds of 50’s/60’s Rat Pack songs. If a couple doesn’t specify the type of music they want during cocktail hour, my go-to is always this classy style of music. I compiled a great list in 2013 and here is my Top 5 from this Cocktail List – get the martini ready!

5.  “L-O-V-E” by Nat King Cole

4. “Sway” by Dean Martin

3. “Fever” by Peggy Lee

2. “Night Time is the Right Time” by Ray Charles

1. “Comin’ Home Baby” by Mel Torme

Dinner List
Usually couples have specific songs they want to hear during dinner. But the weddings where we’re given freedom to choose, I have many, many go-to songs. The following are my Top 5 Dinner List songs:

5. “Heartbeats” by José González

4. “Flower” by Amos Lee

3. “One Lovely Day” by Citizen Cope

2. “Wonderful (The Way I Feel)” by My Morning Jacket

1. “First Day of My Life” by Bright Eyes

Party Songs!!
There were some incredible party songs in 2013. Here’s my list of the Top 5 dance tunes of the year:

There was one that started off strong in the year, but seemed to fizzle later in the summer. For this reason, I’ll give it an Honorable Mention:

“Harlem Shake” by Baauer

5. “Don’t Stop the Party” by Pitbull
WARNING: Proceed at your own risk, it’s a bit racy.

4. “I Love It” by Icona Pop

3. “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

2. “Get Lucky” by Daft Funk, Pharrell

1. “Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke, Pharrell, T.I.
WARNING: Proceed at your own risk, it’s a bit racy.

So there you have it! My Top 5 Cocktail Hour, Top 5 Dinner, Top 5 Party Songs!

Can’t wait to see what 2014 has in store for new music and old song trends!
