Pellerito Recap

Hey everyone, Eric here! Mike and I DJ’ed a great wedding at the Eden Resort on Saturday, August 16 – here’s my recap!

“Good Evening, buenas noches, buona sera. Welcome to, bienvenidos al, benvenuto a tutti al: Courtyard at the Eden Resort!

The newlyweds, los recién casados, gli sposi: Mr. & Mrs. / El Señor y Señora / Signore e Signora: Andrea & Sol Pellerito!!!”

That’s how I welcomed and introduced this past weekend’s couple. Why, you ask? The bride and her family are from the Dominican Republic, and much of her family and friends were native Spanish speakers. The groom and his family are from Sicily, Italy, and his parents did not speak a lick of English.

Being a native Spanish speaker myself, and having a grandmother who doesn’t speak English, I know how important it is for non-English speakers to feel like they’re part of the celebration. So I did many announcements throughout the evening in English, Spanish, and Italian.

Ceremony
Our day with Andrea and Sol started with their ceremony in the Courtyard with Rev. Kelly Jo Singleton officiating. We love working with her; she’s such a sweet, gentle woman and our favorite officiant. She’s great, and we HIGHLY recommend working with her.

Cocktail Hour
After the ceremony, guests moved up to the bar at Arthur’s inside the Eden to enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, while the Pellerito’s and their friends and family hung back at the Courtyard for pictures with Todd Spitler Photography.

Funny story about Todd Spitler: the last time Mike and I worked at the Courtyard was with Todd Spitler as the photographer.

Introductions
I love doing Introductions at the Courtyard because of how large the room is, and how dramatic the walk down from the entrance is.

If you’ve never been there, it’s a LARGE, open room with HIGH ceilings. It’s a bright room with a wonderful fountain that you notice when you step into the large area. There’s only one way into the Courtyard, and that’s down a ramp and into a HUGE dance floor area.

So Intros are a big deal at the Courtyard. I introduced the parents, flower girls and ring bearer to “Beautiful Day” by U2.

The bridesmaids and groomsmen were introduced to “Now That We Found Love” by Heavy D and the Boyz.

And of course: The newlyweds, los recién casados, gli sposi: Mr. & Mrs. / El Señor y Señora / Signore e Signora: Andrea & Sol Pellerito walked into “La La La” by Shakira.

The Intros were such a blast, and we could tell right off the bat that it was going to be a fun, dancing crowd.

First Dance
Andrea and Sol put on quite a show once they arrived at the dance floor and relished in the crowd’s applause and cheering. They danced for a minute to “La La La”, which really fired up the crowd.

As the intro song faded out, and Sol placed her Bouquet on their Sweetheart Table, we played “Everything I Do” by Bryan Adams.

Dinner
In my meetings with Andrea & Sol, I realized they were VERY laid back and let us have free reign over most of their music. For dinner music, I went with a mellow mix of popular and contemporary Italian, Latino, and American music. It was definitely nice to hear all three cultures come together musically, as it was coming together right before our eyes.

Andrea & Sol wasted no time, not even eating, and went around to their family and friends to say hello and get pictures taken! They even spent a good bit of time with their guests at Hey Photobooth!

Mike and I even got in on the action!

Parent Dances and Cake Cutting
After dinner, we went right into the parent dances:
Sol danced with her father to “No Basta” by Franco De Vita and Andrea danced with his mother to “Portami a Ballare” by Luca Barbarossa

A really sweet thing happened during Andrea’s dance with his mother: Andrea’s dad, invited Sol out to the dance floor.

Party Time!
The party got underway instantly, as we imagined, and the Pellerito wedding went into full-party mode all the way until the end!

Bonus Footage:
I gave my phone to Mike and said, “Mike, get a pic of Sol and her father.”

Stepped away from my spot, Mike does this:

A good friend of ours, Bryan Weathers, was a guest at this wedding. Had to do a #ProVolveSelfie!

I went to the bathroom, Mike did this while I was away with my phone.

Mike has this superpower that he doesn’t know about. It’s called: Walk in front of Eric as Eric is taking video.
