It was a very hot day but we were under the tent, with a beautiful view, it was just perfect.
I was tapped to provide music for the reception, as the Second Hand Suits took care of the cocktail hour. It’s always fun meshing bands and DJ’s at weddings because it’s just an added element of excitement and energy. You get the best of both worlds.
After the ceremony ended, and I mean, right after… it started to rain. Luckily, everyone made it under the tent just in time for the cocktail hour because it RAINED as hard as I’ve seen in awhile. Whomever built and erected this tent are true professionals because the wind and rain had 0 effect. The rain did eventually pass and the temperature dropped a bit and it really turned into a beautiful night.
After introductions and the first dance/parent dances/toasts, we jumped right into dinner.
I played an assortment of songs from Doug and Juliette’s music list and here’s a sample of some of those tunes:
Morning Light – Josh Garrels
Beggar in the Morning – Barr Brothers
Imagine – Beatles
High and Dry – Radiohead
Devil May Dance – AJ Roach
Follow Through – Hotel Lights
Maybe Tomorrow – Stereophonics
The Masterplan – Oasis
Feist – Mushaboom
Black Flies – Ben Howard
Can’t Wake Up – Apache Relay
How Can You Swallow So Much – Bombay Bicycle Club
At one point, Juliette’s Mom came over and said, let’s get this going! I said, “no problem!” But then I looked around and saw people were still being served dinner. I then started playing some chill, head-bopping R&B and things just started progressing and next thing I know the dance floor came alive! The rest of the night just flew by because every time I looked up, the dance floor was rocking. It really inspired me to keep digging for old and new sounds and keeping the momentum going!
