Top 5 Party Songs of 2015!

It’s been an amazing year of dancing, screaming, jumping, and tearing up the dance floor!

2015’s music made this amazing year one hell of a party for all of us! So the 6 of us (Andrew, Ben, Cruzi, Declan, Eric, and Mike) sat down and came up with our favorite tracks of 2015.

Here’s our Top 5 List of 2015 Party Songs!
15 (3)

5. Flo Rida ft. Robin Thicke & Verdine White – I Don’t Like It, I Love It

Flo Rida. Robin Thicke. Verdine White. Most of us recognize Robin Thicke as either the guy who danced with the naked chick in the ‘Blurred Lines’ video or the guy who danced with a nearly-naked Miley Cyrus at that one awards show. Either way, he’s definitely carved out a niche for himself – think Harry Connick Jr. that also happens to own a bunch of strip clubs. Flo Rida, a king among men, I prefer to call him by his birth name, Tramar. I don’t think I dislike a single thing he’s done in the past decade, all seriousness. And then we get to Verdine White, a name that I’d thought was fading into sunset musical history in the same way we revere Neil Armstrong but don’t hear from him a lot these days. And then WHAM! The same guy who plays one of the most intricate bass lines *ever*, ‘September’, a founding member of Earth, Wind, and Fire… lands on the scene with another signature bass hook that always puts a smile on my face. Tip of the hat to Tramar, tip of the hat to Verdine – tip of the thong to Robin. Well done, gents.

4. Silentó – Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)

Sure, it was a flash in the pan. Sure, it was a pretty polarizing song – you’d watch a music purist on Facebook trash this song as being emblematic of everything that is wrong with pop music… but drop the hook to this song, and they’re out there on the dance floor, Whipping, Nae Nae-ing, Stanky-legging, Bopping, Breaking their Legs, Yuleing, Supermanning, and Duffing with everyone else. Silento made us all feel like we could dance, and isn’t that what it’s all about?

3. Jason Derulo – “Want To Want Me”

Jason Derulo is my kind of guy. This dude waited in the shadows for *years*, writing songs for Diddy, Sean Kingston, Lil’ Wayne – before being discovered. He writes a lot of his own music, which I respect. This song, ‘Want to Want Me’ – it’s not Shakespeare. But it does have a jangly, major-key hook that gets stuck in my head. Jason’s actual last name is ‘Desrouleaux’ but he shortened it to make his name easier for the masses to remember. See, now you’re not sure if I’m telling you the truth or if I just made that up. Guess you’ll have to look it up to be sure.

2. The Weeknd – “Can’t Feel My Face”

The Weeknd was requested by young and old alike in 2015. I remember a dad coming up to us at a wedding and requesting this song. They had driven in from out of state and heard it so many times on the radio that he wanted to dance to it with his family. Haha. The guy behind The Weeknd, Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, is a Canadian singer who probably has the best and weirdest hair of any artist on this Top 5 List.

1. Mark Ronson – “Uptown Funk” ft. Bruno Mars.

This. Is. 2015’s. Best. Song. Hands down. This song would wake a person from a coma with the horns, bass, drums, and vocals. All of it. One. Hell. Of. A. Song. What else can we say about this song other than it was a guaranteed winner at every wedding we DJ’ed this year. This song was too hot. Call the police and firemen. Too hot. Make a dragon wanna retire.
