Here is Jenny’s story:
“It was a Friday and my friend Gretchen called me in the morning to tell me that our class was canceled! I was so excited because I had the whole morning to hang out with Mike. After we picked up his paycheck at Helzberg Diamonds, an important detail I would learn later, he said he had a surprise for me. He blindfolded me and told me not to peek. He is such a sweet guy, and was always surprising me with things, so I just thought it would be a picnic or something cute like that. I just talked and talked blindfolded for like ½ an hour. Finally, he said, “Hurry, take the blindfold off!” When I did, we were sitting in a big parking lot and a bus was sitting in front of our car. I looked at him, confused. He handed me a ticket and said, “We’re going to Boston!” with a big smile, “but we have to catch this bus.” He had packed my bag when I was at work the day before! I had always talked about wanting to go to Boston, but I had never had a chance to go. I was in shock!
He arranged the whole trip and a whole bunch of fun activities. On Saturday night he took me to the “Top of the Hub” restaurant in the Prudential Building. After a swanky, delicious dinner our waiter scribbled us a note to hand to the attendant at the skywalk upstairs, so we could get in since they were closing. It was beautiful. We were the only ones up there and we got to see all of Boston lit up at night. We were walking around admiring the view, when suddenly he got down on one knee and pulled out a ring. I laugh now that I couldn’t even see the ring through my tears or hear “I love you, will you marry me?” It took me a few moments to choke out a “yes” and he got up and wrapped his big, wonderful arms around me and kissed me through my tears. I still feel like the luckiest girl in the world to know that he is all mine.”
