Good morning! Today we hear from Declan and his recap of the Turnbull Wedding:
What I love most about DJing weddings, is that I always meet new people, see new and old venues and play lots of awesome tunes.
This was all true this past weekend when I provided music for Dan & Becky Turnbull at the Hamilton Ballroom at Wheatland Place. I had never worked there before, and I totally fell in love with the place. The staff was fantastic and it’s such a beautiful venue. I was elated to finally spin there.
Cocktail started at 5 pm as people made their way in. Collaborating with Dan and Becky was so much fun. We came up with a great list of awesome Motown tunes as well as songs from Elton John, Billy Joel, John Denver for a fun and laid-back hour.
The introductions were EPIC, as the newlyweds came in as a Mr. & Mrs. Turnbull, dancing their way in with Lil Jon’s “Turn Down For What” blasting!
Dinner was filled with chill sounds from the Avett Brothers, Sam Smith, Head & the Heart, Rufus Wainwright, Kid Cudi, M.I.A., Lorde.
We had quite the dance floor with the always-entertaining circle, where each person takes some time in the middle and shows their best moves. I even heard there was a two-man lawn mower in action! It was a fun group and they danced their butts off all night.
The night flew by and before I knew it, I was hugging the couple and, saying goodbye and wishing them all the best. They were such a nice couple to work with and I had a blast being with them on their big day.
