Top 5 Tips, Men’s Fashion Spring/Summer Engagement Shoot

We have another edition of the Top 5 Things Guest Blogger Series, this time we hear from a previous guest blogger, Miguel Guadarrama. A couple of years ago, Miguel wrote a brief blog post about Men’s Fashion and engagement shoots.

As we sloooowly make our way into Spring, Miguel’s back with Men’s Fashion Tips for Spring/Summer Engagement Shoots.

So pay attention gentlemen, Miguel’s a classy guy and his tips do not disappoint:

Now that we are making the transition from winter to spring, that means one thing, it is officially wedding season. Chances are that you, future grooms-to-be, are busy with helping select the DJ (which hopefully is ProVolve Entertainment), food, and the kind of beer you will have for the wedding reception. On top of all of that, you have to prepare for the engagement shoot. Now you are probably wondering, “What do I wear for this shoot?”

Do not worry, your questions will be answered with a simple guide, which will lead you in the right direction.

5. Suits
Linen and Seersucker suits
Seeing that spring has arrived, it is time to put away the dark-color wool suits and try making light of the occasion and jumping into a linen or seersucker suit. Linen suits have come a long way and are no longer just considered a baggy tan suit you would wear to the beach, paired with a Panamanian hat. Linen suits have transformed and have become a versatile suit, which can be worn at the office or for a photo shoot.

The same can be said for the seersucker suit, these suits are no longer your grandfather’s go-to summer suit. Seersucker suits have made a strong comeback over the past couple of years, and they are perfect for the spring.

Cotton Suits and blazers
So maybe linen and seersucker suits are not for you and you want something that is a bit more traditional, but at the same time, it is too hot for a wool suit. Then opt for a cotton suit or blazer, its smooth finish gives it a look of a more traditional suit and blazer, only without the weight.

4. Pants
Bold Color Twill or Chino Pants
There are more ways to add color to your outfit, aside from your tie, pair a bold color twill or chino pant with a blazer. It is a different way to add color to your outfit and you will stand apart from the norm. Another color to consider as well, would be white, also a very bold color for pants.

3. Shirt Styles
Spread Collar Shirt
Plan on wearing a collared shirt? Make sure you opt for a spread collar, it looks good with or without a tie. Keep in mind, if you are going to attempt the “Air Tie,” make sure you find a spread collar that is a bit smaller in size.

Tee Shirt
So let’s say that you are not really in the mood to wear a collared shirt, then you should try a crew-neck collar tee. But let’s keep it simple, no radical designs, and no glitter. In other words, avoid the Ed Hardy tee shirts. What you want is something simple, plain or with a stripe. How should it fit? The shirt should drape, but it should not be baggy, yet close to your body.

2. Shoe Options
Oxford Shoes
Shoes are more than, “Something that go on your feet…” They could make or break your outfit, so when you slip on a pair of shoes, make sure you do it right. One option you have, an oxford. Oxfords come in many styles and colors, and they are extremely versatile.

Loafers
You want a pair of dressier shoes that signify spring or summer? Then try a penny loafer or a tasseled loafer, both fit the occasion perfectly, and you will look sharp.

Canvas Sneakers and Boat Shoes
Canvas sneakers and boat shoes are perfect for those warmer days, when you want to be comfortable and still look sharp, they will do the job. They are easy to dress up or down, and even though they will never be as dressy as an oxford or loafer, they still give you that stylish look that most men desire.

1. Must Have Accessories
In order to really complete your outfit, you must accessorize. A lot of men neglect to add accessories to their outfit and at times their outfits look incomplete. So feel free to add some accessories into your wardrobe, and see the difference they truly make.
